Before LivingSocial’s merchants app was introduced, merchants had to collect
vouchers from customers and then log into LivingSocial´s Merchant Portal to
redeem vouchers. Often this was done at the end of the day, which resulted in a
slower and less efficient process because of the manual editing of the vouchers. Vision: Livingsocial Merchants App
To simplify the voucher redemption process for merchants, Livingsocial wanted
to build a dedicated merchants app, which would be available to collaborating
merchants as a free download. Using this app would reduce the time for
redemption; merchants should be able to scan vouchers in real-time to save
time and reduce costs. Solution: Livingsocial Merchants App with the Scandit barcode scanner
By integrating the Scandit barcode scanner into their merchant app,
LivingSocial was able to address the above requirements. When a customer
now comes in with their LivingSocial voucher, the merchant can simply
scan the barcode on the voucher to redeem it. This makes “closing the loop”
much faster and easier for the merchant.
