Yesterday, the Swiss Mobile Basecamp was held in Bern for the first time. As a unique gathering of entrepreneurs, experts, investors and start-ups in the Swiss mobile scene, the new event came with a great line-up of speakers, offering ample opportunities to mix and mingle, and, eventually, culminated in a “Dragon’s Den” competition.

Dragon’s Den originated in Japanese reality TV and quickly conquered TV stations all over the world, even being aired on BBC. Start-ups get the chance to pitch their business idea within a very short time and need to solicit for funds of the dragons, a jury usually consisting of experienced business angels and seasoned professionals.

At the Dragon’s Den in Bern, Scandit was one of the ten lucky start-ups that were selected to present their businesses. After a three-minute, pecha-kucha pitch and having fought his way through two Q&A sessions, our CEO Samuel convinced the jury of our vision, product portfolio and go-to-market approach and was selected as one of the two finalists – along with Elia from Newscron. In a final show of hands by the entire audience, Scandit was picked as the lucky winner of the Dragon’s Den competition! Kudos to everybody who voted for us!

Besides heaps of fame and glory, the prize includes two tickets for the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona and some fancy gadgets like a Nokia Lumia smartphone, an Apple iPhone 4S and more! Thanks everyone for contributing to this fantastic event!
