Can BYOD Policies Future-Proof Your Business?
| Noticias

A recent IDC survey released last week shows the changing trend of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) adoption across businesses in Canada. BYOD is quickly becoming the norm among Canadian IT departments, and this trend shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. While we know about the ongoing adoption of BYOD in the enterprise, it’s always interesting to see some of the reasoning behind these changes.
According to the survey, 50% of CIO’s reported that they moved towards BYOD policies to appeal to young workers who will compose 75% of the workforce by 2028. Currently, 52% of CIO’s in Canada allow employees to bring their own devices to work, but that number is slated to increase over time as more young employees become part of the workforce. Many CIO’s believe that adopting these policies early will future-proof their business by appealing to the millennial employee that is quickly taking over the future workforce.
While many CIO’s remain weary of security concerns, this shift shows that 55% are adjusting IT policies based on the feedback provided by employees. They see the benefit that comes with BYOD by empowering their workforce to be more efficient on their own mobile devices.
