Scandit Barcode Scanner SDK 5.5 Improves DataMatrix Support

| Product Releases , Products & Solutions

scanning small parts

Scandit has released version 5.5 of our Barcode Scanner SDK. The latest iteration of Scandit Barcode Scanner SDK includes improved support for DataMatrix codes and initial interoperability for DotCode symbology, as well as ReactNative support for iOS and Android.

Enhanced DataMatrix Support

Scandit Barcode Scanner SDK 5.5 speeds up the localization and decoding of DataMatrix codes. In particular, the reading of large codes with perspective and non-linear distortions has been greatly improved. In addition, a new direct part marking (DPM) mode has been added that can be used to scan Data Matrix codes engraved or etched into metal. Check out the video below to see DPM mode in action.

DotCode Support

In addition, Scandit Barcode Scanner SDK 5.5 now supports DotCode symbology. DotCode is suited for high-speed, on-demand printing on labels or directly on products, by ink-jet and lasers. Serial data such as lot numbers and expiration dates can be added to products on the production line.

React Native Support

Furthermore, Scandit Barcode Scanner SDK 5.5 offers support for the mobile ReactNative JavaScript framework. ReactNative is on the cutting edge of hybrid app development and we have added this important framework to the list of plugins we already support.

Other Performance Improvements

  • Improved MatrixScan performance for 2D codes and use cases that require a very high resolution.
  • Added support for default scan area scans in MatrixScan mode.
  • Added an interface to check if a barcode is color inverted.
