A Wonderful Coincidence: Celebrating the Birthday of the Mobile Phone and the GS1 Standardized Barcode!

Today is a truly special day. 40 years ago today in 1973, GS1 standardized the barcode, ushering in an era of commerce-driven bliss.  As fate would have it, on the same day, the first mobile phone call was made. Both of these technologies have transformed our world in so many ways, and paved the way for a great deal of innovation. Here at Scandit we’d like to propose a toast to two of our “parents,” the mobile phone and the barcode—thanks for bringing us into the world!
