We just released the latest version of our Barcode Scanner SDK for iOS, Android, Windows and other supported platforms. This update includes significant improvements to our scanning capabilities and user experience. We recommend that you upgrade soon to take advantage of our increased performance and feature set (see release notes for details). Here are the new features that Scandit’s Barcode Scanner SDK version 4.12 has to offer:

Sample Codes

The latest version of the Scandit Barcode Scanner SDK now supports the new Data Matrix Rectangular Extension (AIM-D Symbology Specification: “Data Matrix Rectangular Extension” Version 1.01) which has been proposed to provide a way to encode serialization data on product packages of limited height. Data Matrix ECC 200 codes are today already widely used to encode serialization data on products. However, on small pharmaceutical packages it is often difficult to encode the standardized serialization information because there is only sufficient space in one direction since the height of the product package is limited. The new Data Matrix Rectangular Extension specification addresses this issue by providing 12 additional rectangular Data Matrix code symbols.

The updated Scandit Data Matrix Decoder also makes it easier to scan Data Matrix codes at any angle. It provides better robustness for rotated codes and codes with perspective distortions.

Updated Xamarin API

Xamarin Evolve 2016

With the latest Scandit Barcode Scanner SDK, we have updated our Xamarin API to the latest native iOS and Android (4.7+/4.9+) Scandit SDK APIs. The updated Xamarin API provides access to all of the customization capabilities that were previously only available for users of the native API. We will continue to support the legacy Xamarin API for those users that want to continue to use the old API. New features will however only be added to the revised Xamarin API.

This work is part of our effort to provide our customers with high-quality and well-maintained components, modules and plugins for the most popular hybrid development platforms.

Be sure to download the latest SDK and update your mobile application to harness the unparalleled scanning performance Scandit has to offer. If you haven’t experienced the performance of Scandit, consider signing up for a 30-Day Test SDK today.
