scandit mobile world congress 2014

Last week Mobile World Congress (MWC), the largest mobile technology trade show, attracted over 85,000 professionals from around the globe.  The Scandit team was on the ground in Barcelona, and we wanted to share some highlights from the show:

Stylish Smartphones

This year’s MWC featured some great new smartphones from large device manufacturers such as Samsung and Sony. Sony’s new Xperia Z2 smartphone was our favorite, featuring a combination of beautiful design and superior ruggedness (IP55). The Galaxy S5 is also an incredible new flagship device for Samsung, featuring a beautiful screen, fingerprint access control and water resistance. LG also released a very attractive and high-powered phablet, the G Pro 2, which may help popularize this growing category of devices.

Other smartphones were announced from players such as Huawei and ZTE, but these didn’t raise any eyebrows.

Wearable Wonders

The Samsung Gear Fit was the most popular new wearable device announced at MWC. The Gear Fit takes the power of a smartwatch and combines this with a fitness focus. Delivering a sleek design and beautiful curved display, this device is surely one of the most attractive wearable computers announced to date.

The Scandit Booth

Throughout the week we featured some incredible demos at our booth, including our new Google Glass and Galaxy Gear wearable barcode scanning demos. We were also joined by some our trusted system integration partners YoungCulture and DXY Solutions, who were demoing apps they created that feature Scandit’s advanced barcode scanning technology. Here are a few pics:

Stay tuned for more pics from MWC coming soon!
