With Age Verified Self-Checkout, when an age-restricted item is scanned, the shopper verifies their own age in a few guided steps, and most finish with nothing more than a selfie.
- Scan to start. When an age-restricted item is detected, the kiosk shows a QR code; the shopper scans it and a browser opens on their phone for the check, no app to download.
- Face scan. A quick selfie lets on-device vision AI estimate their age, and most shoppers are cleared at this step.
- ID check, only if needed. If the estimate is below the threshold, the shopper scans an ID and photo comparison technology matches the photo to the selfie to stop borrowed-ID fraud.
