Getting There – The conferences are being held at the San Jose Hilton and San Jose San Jose Convention Center, which is a quick cabride or a 20 minute walk from the San Jose Caltrain station.
Thursday October 18th
This is the one day where strictly the App Conference is taking place, as GMIC does not start til Friday. Taking that into consideration, we suspect that Thursday will be the mildest of the three days in terms of excitement and attendance. Nonetheless, there are some cool companies presenting you won’t want to miss:
11:00 am – 12:00 pm “Cloud Services for App Developers”
Moderator: Steve Guengerich, Co-founder and VP, Appconomy, Inc.
Appconomy is a snazzy mobile development platform which provides commerce and community cloud services, allowing developers to build and distribute compelling apps that can run on any device and any platform.
Panelist: David McLauchlan , Co-founder and CEO, Buddy.com
Buddy.com is a cross-platform mobile “backend as a service”. They describe themselves as enabling “developers to build engaging, cloud-connected apps without having to write, test, manage or scale server-side code or infrastructure.”
2:30 pm – 3:30 pm “Distribution Opportunities”
Moderator: Estuardo Robles, Vice President, AppsGeyser
AppsGeyser is a framework which uses web content and HTML5 to create apps for Android.
3:45 pm – 4:45 pm “Monetization vs User Acquisition”
Panelist: Dan Kurani, CEO, Thumb
Thumb is pretty awesome. It’s an app which lets you as questions of the crowd to gather opinions. You can check it out by downloading it for iOS or for Android.
6:30pm – GMIC VIP Kickoff dinner (VIP passes only)

Friday October 19th
Friday is the big day, with 4 different tracks, and both conferences happening simultaneously. Not to mention Scandit wil be competing against 9 other startups on Friday for the G-Startup competition! Check it out:

10:40am Keynote: Vaughan Smith, VP of Mobile Partnerships and Corporate Development, Facebook
11:40am “The Realities of Mobile Payments”
This panel with feature speakers from Swisscom Ventures, RIM (lol!), Amex Ventures, Rogers Communications and Sequent Software. We’ve written a lot about the mobile payments space, so we’re very curious to hear what these guys have to say.
1pm-3pm G-Startup Growth Stage Startup Competition
Come on out to the G-Startup competition and cast your vote for us! Our CEO Samuel will be taking the stage to pitch a panel of judges and the audience. We hope to see you there!
6:15pm-8:30pm GMIC Night, AppSpace A
Drink a pint of beer with your fellow conference attendees which checking out the mobile fashion show, and the crowning of Miss Silicon Valley. We suspect this could be awesome… or it may go terribly wrong! In any case you won’t want to miss it.
Saturday October 20th
10am G-Startup winner announcement
10:35am Fireside chat with Aaron Levie, CEO and Founder, Box
Aaron also provides insightful and humorous commentary. He’s a great ice-breaker to start the day.
2:20pm Fireside chat with Tayloe Stansbury, SVP & CTO of Intuit, and Wade Roush, Chief Correspondent at Xconomy
This chat will feature more discussion about m-commerce to wet your palette.
2:35pm “Monetization Strategies for the Next Wave in Mobile”
Featuring panelists form Chartboost, Playphone, HandyGames and iFree, this panel will tackle a tough but interesting topic.
8:30pm-late Official GMIC Afterparty, Studio 88, South 1st Street San Jose, CA
