Scandit Named to the 2022 CB Insights Retail Tech 100

Scandit recognized for achievements in driving adoption of smart data capture, automating and providing insights for end-to-end retail processes.

CB Insights today named Scandit, the global leader in smart data capture, to the Retail Tech 100 ranking, which showcases the 100 most promising B2B retail tech companies in the world.

The news follows hot on the heels of Scandit’s Series D funding announcement, which made Scandit one of Europe’s newest unicorns with a company valuation in excess of $1billion.

The 2022 Retail Tech 100 cohort highlights startups and future market leaders who are reimagining the retail experience across 13 categories, including autonomous delivery, hyper-personalized shopping, and more. Scandit Smart Data Capture platform, leveraging computer vision, machine learning and augmented reality demonstrated the innovative retail technology CB Insights has recognized in this year’s rankings.

“By almost any measure, this has been a breakout year for retail tech. We’ve seen skyrocketing funding across the industry, powering companies involved in every aspect of retail from instant grocery delivery to supply chain technology,” said Brian Lee, SVP of CB Insights’ Intelligence Unit. “As the retail landscape evolves, we’re excited to see how the companies on the Retail Tech 100 continue to revolutionize how consumers shop.”

“Scandit’s vision is to transform the daily lives of customers, workers and businesses, enabling enhanced, personalized experiences and enabling retailers in their digital transformation journey. To be selected in this ranking and noted as a market leader is very gratifying. Our Smart Data Capture platform addresses the current challenges in retail including labor shortages, increased customer expectations, and the rise of omnichannel,” said Samuel Mueller, CEO of Scandit.

“We live in a world where many businesses, including retail, are susceptible to external shocks and must react quickly to societal change. Our computer vision, artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies running on smart devices enable retailers to adapt, and by blending the physical and digital worlds we make life simpler for workers, enhance processes and increase efficiencies for businesses, and deliver a compelling in-store customer experience” Mueller added.

Through an evidence-based approach, the CB Insights research team selected the Retail Tech 100 from a pool of over 7,000 companies, including applicants and nominees. Selection was based on factors including patent activity, business relations, investor profiles, news sentiment analysis, proprietary Mosaic scores, market potential, competitive landscape, team strength, and tech novelty. The Mosaic Score, based on CB Insights’ algorithm, measures the overall health and growth potential of private companies to help predict a company’s momentum.

Trusted by eight out of the top ten US grocers and by other leading retailers such as Sephora, Levi Strauss & Co., Carrefour and Decathlon, Scandit gives superpowers to workers, customers and businesses by providing actionable insights and automating end-to-end processes.
